Keylong is the district head quarters of the Lahaul region. The town owes its relative popularity to the increased traffic on the Leh - Manali road with numerous hotels cropping up here to cater to the tourists stopping over here enroute to their destinations.

Here you see the Sissu village lying on the banks of the Chandra river. In the background are the snowcapped mountains of the Pir Panjal range holding back the rain clouds coming in from the plains of India.

 The devotees offer their respect by repeatedly prostrating infront of the deity. The prostration is a ritual in itself with the body dropping to the floor and stretched full length with the arms in front. The prostration is repeated 3, 7, 21, or 108 times. And there are many wooden planks placed in the temple for this purpose.

It is while climbing these switchbacks that i got caught in the hailstorm. My camping spot is somewhere to the right of the waterfall. You maybe able to see a hut at the rightmost edge of this photograph.
